The YWSC has been caring for the Yorkson Creek Watershed since 1999. Our group is made up of concerned individuals from Walnut Grove and Willoughby. To us stewardship is having a positive impact on our creek and the surrounding habitats.

We meet the second Tuesday of the month at Walnut Grove Secondary School during the school year at 7:00pm room number is posted on the front door, or join us for our annual summer potluck!





  • Raise Awareness of Yorkson Creek
  • celebrate Earth Day, Pitch-in-week and BC Rivers Day
  • provide educational tours, talks and work parties
  • partner with schools, service clubs and the general public in a variety of hands-on projects
  • plant trees
  • mark storm drains
  • remove invasive plant species, especially blackberries, ivy, and lamiastrum
  • plant native trees and shrubs
  • organize community clean-ups
